OBJECTIVES AND WORKPACKAGES -ACTIVITIES

The general objective is the active participation of migrants in consultative/decision-making processes that contributes to their empowerment/long-term integration. Their involvement enhances the cultural background/skills of migrants and facilitates social inclusion in EU context and in terms of active EU citizenship .This is realized by setting up -after a process of research and creating awareness and empowerment of young migrants- consultative bodies of youth migrants at local/EU level in a multi-stakeholder approach promoted by NGO’s experienced in training and education on migration/integration, municipalities and governmental Local Authorities, and universities, aiming at involving youth migrants and refugees in active political life, co-designing policies addressed to migrants and refugees.

Preparatory meeting DG HOME in order to discuss and shape the contents of the project, the implementation challenges, next steps and/or possible policy implications and AMIF programme requirements Kick of meeting (Rome) with all partners to start up the project (focus on first
research phase + communication/dissemination) and management structure. Finalization of the financial agreement.

Research activity that foresees the collection and benchmark of best practices made by each country involved in the project and a study on the national integration policies and systems of involved countries. The study will take place through desk research and through questionnaires which will be distributed through relevant stakeholders via the networks of involved partners and in close consultation with NGO’s and local authorities. Evaluations made in various countries are brought together and on the basis of experiences in countries involved.

Developing awareness-raising campaigns and events allow all citizens to learn facts on migration and integration and find out how they can participate in the integration process. They create spaces for frequent interaction of migrants and national citizens, which develop the intercultural competencies of all. Awareness contributes to empowerment, as specific groups concerned develop more informed opinions on diversity and are empowered to more actively participate in changing opinions.

Empowerment of young migrant through YOUTH POLICIES ONLINE HACKATHON-INQUIRY LAB with the participants of youth 19-26 years old. The Hackathon is an online Challenge coordinated using a platform that allows teams and experts to join an online challenge related to Youth Policies, immigration and refugees. Activities with an empowerment approach take migrants seriously. The explicit goal of this is to assist migrants in securing a voice and an active role in policy development.

Start up and institution of CONSULTATIVE BODIES DEVELOPMENT (local and EU level – legal and network implementation) at local and European level. Expected outcome is an active and equal participation from decision-making to implementation allowing individual migrants or representatives of migrant associations to make their own decisions about how to change their life situation or participate in public life helps to break assumed patterns of dependency and paternalistic attitudes. These information, networking, and participative platforms are key tools for migrant empowerment. The participation of immigrants in the democratic process and in the formulation of policy recommendations on possible measures to supports their integration policies and measures, especially at the local level, supports their integration.

Developing a conceptual framework of impact and results indicators (Desktop research). A conceptual framework should capture quantitative and qualitative dimensions that are grounded in theory, relevant, easy to understand, and reliable that will represent an input for handbook and factsheets after evaluation in order to disseminate with the aim of embedment in the partner organizations training offer and further dissemination beyond.

Creation and implementation of a communication and dissemination strategy informing public opinion about the benefits of naturalization for a country of immigration. The aim is creating public awareness-raising and migrant empowerment: Both contribute to the idea that societal integration works as a two-way process of mutual accommodation between immigrants and the general public. stimulate involvement of young migrants in the design/implementation of integration policies at local/EU level.

Development of tools and plan to generate long-term sustainable results such as 1) best practice handbook 2) Plan of putting forward in sustainability terms
